January 23rd - Gong Hey Fat Choy! (or Chinese New Year Rules!)

As we say on this side of the pond, "Happy Chinese New Year!" I certainly wish we lived near a Chinatown to get in on the whole parade, dancing dragon, fireworks action but we had to go with the limited resources Smithfield, VA has to offer. We celebrated the New Year with some Chinese take-out from our friends at Tokyo Thai.

Stop right there. I know what you are thinking. Nothing about that restaurant name suggests Chinese. Thai, Japanese, but no Chinese. Well, smart guy and/or gal, they are a full-service Asian dining establishment so we got down with some lo mein and chicken and broccoli, thank you very much. Everyone is so fast to criticize. Sheesh.

Spence had the great idea to eat on the floor, like the Chinese do, but we didn't have a super low table so we literally just ate on the floor. It was really fun, like a Chinese picnic in our living room.

Celebrating the Chinese New Year was only the opening act for the really BIG holiday today - Measure Your Feet Day!! I'm telling you, the excitement never ends.

So we pried our sodium and MSG bloated feet out of our shoes and socks and got to measuring...

Mark insisted we measure in feet instead of inches (collective groan). And then I had to keep saying, "This holiday totally RULES!" (more collective groans) And Spence just shook his head. Poor kid.
